COURSE INFORMATION

Course Maps: [Overview of whole course]

Swim Course: 1.9km
It’s a one-lap swim in pristine waters alongside the historic Busselton Jetty. The swim starts in waist deep water on the east side of Busselton Jetty, directly in front of the Goose Café. Following the jetty the swim heads out to sea for 850m, followed by a right hand turn – swimming away from the jetty.  A short straight at the top of the course is followed by another right hand turn heading to head back to shore to the swim exit. A short run up the beach and across the road into the Barnard park will have you into the western end of transition. There will be wave starts in the swim to reduce congestion amongst swimmers. All participants will be asked to make their way to the swim start compound on the beach with plenty of time for before their wave start.

Wetsuits
The Triathlon Australia appointed Technical Delegate will take the water temperature 24 hours before race start and the reading will be displayed at Registration on Friday night.  The water temperature will be  taken  again  on  Race  Morning  and  the  wearing  of  wetsuits  will  be  conditional  upon  the  water temperature. The water should be in the vicinity of 20 degrees Celsius in which case wetsuits will be optional. Water temperature above 24 degrees Celsius will mean a compulsory non-wetsuit swim for all athletes. Wetsuits may be checked for acceptable thickness and illegal flotation inserts after the swim.  Wetsuits which do not meet Triathlon Australia acceptable standards in this regard may result in disqualification. Please note long sleeved wetsuits are permitted. Wetsuits must only be removed and left at your numbered bike rack.

Bike Course:  90.1km

The bike leg exits the transition area at the eastern end directly onto Marine Terrace, heading left.  A left into Milne Street is followed by a  right turn into Geographe Bay Road for approximately 3km. Cyclists will then follow Guerin Street across Marine Terrace all the way to Layman Rd. A right hand turn into Layman and then a left at the round about puts you onto the newly surfaced bypass. The course continues along Layman Road through the Wonnerup townsite to Tuart Drive where cyclists will turn right.
